چکیده
This study provided the first assessment of pyrethroids and pyrethrins in Minnesota, USA lake sediments, second one for alkylphenols (APs) nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs). Surficial sediments were collected 2017 from 30 small to medium-sized lakes, encompassing a variety watershed land uses ecoregions. These lakes targeted pool 50 randomly selected included National Lakes Assessment (NLA) study. Sixty percent (n = 18) had at least detection contaminant emerging concern (CEC). 4-Nonylphenols (4-NP) highest frequency (46.7%), followed by 4-nonylphenol monoethoxylates (4-NP1EO; 26.7%), bifenthrin (26.7%), diethoxylates (3.3%), resmethrin (3.3%). The prevalence 4-NP was consistent with degradation high production NPEs environment. All other CECs not detected. No detected three most remote located forested northeastern where atmospheric deposition would be likely source contamination. concentrations below levels benthic invertebrates. associated crop use Upper Midwest ecoregion number detections 4-NP, 4-NP1EO, bifenthrin. impacted development significantly higher (p < 0.05) 4-NP1EO than uses, while there no significant difference > between categories For time, ambient background threshold values calculated provide an indication sediment quality conditions represented diffuse anthropogenic sources. demonstrated benefit analyzing which random sampling design future NLA studies could utilized fully assess distribution toxic potential select nationwide.

Vertical distribution of nonylphenol and nonylphenol ethoxylates in sedimentary core from the Beipaiming Channel, North China.
The vertical profiles of nonylphenol (NP) and nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) were investigated in a sediment core from the Beipaiming Channel, North China using high sensitive LC-MS and GC-MS methods. In this core, relatively high concentrations of NP and NPEOs occurred in the surface sediment (< or = 40 cm), with the maximum value of NP and NPEOs reaching 3539 and 12735 ng/g, respectively, wh...
متن کاملEnvironmental Fate and Safety of Nonylphenol Ethoxylates
lkylphenol ethoxylates are nonA ionic surfactants widely used in many institutional and household cleaning products and industrial processes. They have been popular for their effectiveness, economy and ease of handling and formulating for more than 40 years. They function as emulsifiers, detergents, wetting agents and dispersants. One of the largest application areas for alkylphenol ethoxylates...

This work presents an LC-MS-MS-based method for the quantitation of nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEOs) and octylphenol ethoxylates (OPEOs) in water, sediment, and suspended particulate matter, and three of their carboxylated derivatives in water. The alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEOs) were analyzed using isotope dilution mass spectrometry with [(13)C(6)]-labeled analogues, whereas the carboxylated de...

Nonylphenol (NP) and other hydrophobic biodegradation intermediates of nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPE) surfactants have been identified in wastewater treatment biosolids. These biosolids often are land applied, but little is known regarding the potential uptake of biosolid-derived contaminants by plants. Hydroponic experiments, 11 to 14 weeks in duration, were conducted to examine the uptake and t...
متن کاملDistribution and persistence of pyrethroids in runoff sediments.
Pyrethroids are commonly used insecticides in both agricultural and urban environments. Recent studies showed that surface runoff facilitated transport of pyrethroids to surface streams, probably by sediment movement. Sediment contamination by pyrethroids is of concern due to their wide-spectrum aquatic toxicity. In this study, we characterized the spatial distribution and persistence of bifent...
